Common questions

I lost my license key. How do I recover it?

+
Email us from the address you used to purchase Finda. We'll re-issue your key within one business day. There's nothing to recover from your end — your key is regenerated server-side from the purchase record.

Can I use Finda on more than one Mac?

+
Yes. A single license can be activated on any number of Macs you personally own. Just paste the same key into each install.

Finda says "Full Disk Access required." What does this do?

+
By default, macOS limits which folders an app can read. Granting Full Disk Access lets Finda index files outside your home folder — like /Applications, /Library, and external drives. Without it, Finda still works but only inside ~/. You can revoke it any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access.

Why does Finda need to build an index?

+
An index is what makes Finda sub-second fast. Instead of scanning your disk on every keystroke (which is what slow file searchers do), Finda maintains a small SQLite database of file metadata that gets updated live via FSEvents. First-time indexing of a typical Mac takes 1–3 minutes.

I want a refund.

+
No problem. Email us within 14 days of purchase from the email address you used to buy, and we'll refund the full amount. No questions, no friction.

Does Finda work on Intel Macs?

+
Finda is a universal binary and works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Performance is best on Apple Silicon, but Intel is fully supported.

Does Finda send my files anywhere?

+
No. The index lives entirely on your Mac. Finda never reads file contents, only names + paths + sizes + modification dates. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
